2009 Vocal Studies Brochure

If you want to study music with a distinguished artist while intensively improving your English skills, this program is for you. In this five-week program, you will receive the same English instruction in grammar, composition, oral communication, reading, vocabulary, and study skills that students in our academic program do.

You will also study vocabulary for music and read music textbooks with your English teachers. In addition, you will participate in a vocal workshop once a week. The instructor of the workshop is a baritone and countertenor soloist, who has earned two Grammy Awards as a member of the world-renowned classical a cappella ensemble, Chanticleer. He is a faculty member at Sonoma State University and has acquired a reputation for his exceptional coaching expertise through numerous vocal and choral workshops.

Class enrollment for this program is limited to 10 students, ensuring maximum individual attention. Singers of all levels (including “not-yet singers”) are welcome. Optional private voice lessons could be arranged as requested. Classical concert fieldtrips in the San Francisco Bay area further enhance the program.
