To Do List Notifications
When Additional Documents are Requested
New Students
Students newly admitted to SSU for the 2008-09 school year will receive a To Do List Notification in the mail.
Continuing Students
Continuing SSU students will receive an email notification that additional documentation is being requested. You will need to view your “To Do List” through Self Service at the following path: Self Service> Student Center > To Do List (located in the right-hand column).
Failure to Submit Documents has Dire Consequences
Be sure to submit all required documents within 14 days of the request, or your award could be cancelled. Documentation requirements may change after further review of your application information. Watch for additional requests and respond promptly to them. Your financial aid file will not be complete and funds cannot disburse until all documents are received and processed.
What Does It Mean to be “Selected for Verification?”
The Federal Processor randomly selects approximately one-third of all financial aid applicants for a process called “Verification”. This means you must submit a copy of your previous year taxes, and an Independent/Dependent Verification Worksheet for the appropriate financial aid year. The worksheets can be found at the Downloadables section of our web site under To Do List Forms. Dependent students must also submit their parent's previous year taxes. If you or your parents are not required to and did not file taxes, there is a place to indicate this on the Verification Worksheet. We will compare the information on the taxes and Verification Worksheet to the information on your FAFSA, and make corrections if necessary. These corrections could result in a change to your EFC, which could result in changes to your award. If that happens, we will send you a Modified Award Offer explaining the changes.
