Award Assumptions
Award Offers sent by mail
Confirm the assumptions we made when we constructed your Award Offer. They are listed in the Assumptions section on page 2 of your Award Offer. If any of these assumptions are wrong, refer to the Assumptions section for instructions on how to correct them.Award Offers sent by email
Assumptions will not be listed in your emailed Award Offer notification, however assumptions have been made regarding the following three categories:
- Your Housing Plans — Either Off-campus, On-campus, or With Parents, as determined by the housing plans for SSU that you indicated on your FAFSA.
- California Residency — Either CA resident or out-of-state, as determined by the offices of Admissions and Records. Please note — If your total aid is greater than $23,000 you may have been determined to be an out-of-state student. If you believe this is in error, contact the Admissions Office at (707) 664-2778.
- Grade Level (Determined by the offices of Admissions and Records.)
- Transfer students
- If your grade level is currently determined to be a freshman, Admissions and Records has not evaluated your transfer units yet. As soon as your units are evaluated and posted to your student record, your loans will be increased to the appropriate amount and you will be sent a Modified Award Offer.
- Continuing students
- If you are advancing in grade level after the current semester, contact the Financial Aid Office after grades have been posted to your student record.
- Self Service
- Enrolled students may view posted units by accessing an unofficial transcript through Self Service.
Grade Level
The office of Admissions & Records determines your grade level. Your grade level is based on completed units applicable to your degree. Some remedial and repeated courses are not applicable. The following list details the unit requirements for each grade level:
- 0 – 29 = Freshman
- 30 – 59 = Sophomore
- 60 – 89 = Junior
- 90+ = Senior
If after reading the Award Assumptions regarding grade level you believe your grade level is incorrect, contact the Financial Aid Office. Resolution to the discrepancy may require additional research on our part with Admissions and Records.
