Housekeeping

HousekeepingCustodial services and maintenance is provided to all general fund supported university facilities. Non-general fund supported facilities and programs may be provided service on a charge back basis.

Mark Bradley is the Director of Housekeeping who ensures that the campus facilities are provided cleaning services, recycling services, and that assistance with moving items on campus, including event set-up and tear-down, are completed daily. Cleaning frequencies are as follows:

  • Classrooms and laboratories daily.
  • Restrooms daily with additional attention as necessary.
  • Interior hallways daily.
  • Offices empty recycle bins daily.
  • Public spaces empty trash daily, clean floors weekly.
  • Exterior trash daily.
  • Exterior window washing annually.
  • Floor cleaning and waxing as scheduled via work order.

Day Custodial

The Day Custodian crew is responsible for the cleaning of the residential housing community areas which include:

  • Housing offices.
  • Police Services.
  • Cooperage.
  • Ameci's.
  • Residential laundry rooms.
  • Public conference rooms.
  • Show rooms.
  • Guest suites.
  • Mailrooms.
  • Outdoor trash and recycle areas.

Day of Week Time
Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Friday 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Night Custodial

The Night Custodial crew is responsible for the cleaning of campus buildings with priority given to food services areas, restrooms, classrooms, departmental offices and trash/recycle areas. If there are any questions about an area that is cleaned by the night custodial crew, please contact JR Cervantes.

Operations for the main campus are Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Movers

The Moving crew is responsible for the relocation of all University owned property and special event set-up as scheduled through Conferences and Events Services. They also coordinate the collection of outdoor trash and recycle on campus.

Recycle

Sonoma State University utilizes its own Garbage truck to collect trash, recycle and reusable items on campus and in residential areas across campus. Reusable items are handled by the Recycle Department and diverted to areas where they can be utilized or donated. Sonoma State University is committed to diverting generated materials from the landfill through source reduction, material exchange, single stream recycling and organic management.
