Lab Manager Hotline: 4-LABS (45227)
e-mail: lang.culture@sonoma.edu

In addition to the Stevenson 1028 facility, the Modern Language Computer Lab is located down the hall in Stevenson 1040. The Computer Lab has 16 Windows (i.e., NOT Mac) computers that are maintained and managed by Information Technology (IT).

Scheduling and Availability

The computer lab is used for language classes as well as open hours, with priority given to students working on coursework in Modern Languages. Schedules show when the labs are reserved for classes or other activities. Availability of the computer lab may be viewed on an online calender/schedule at: http://labs.sonoma.edu/schedules/stev1040.html

The schedule is also posted by the door of 1040. If the lab isn't scheduled for something else, it is available as open access. The online schedules are updated regularly, but may have been changed since the last update on the server. Check the date at the bottom of the schedule to see how current that information is.

If you wish to schedule the Modern Language Computer Lab for a class (as some of our faculty have already done), you must fill out a Computer Lab Scheduling Request form, available online at:
http://www.sonoma.edu/it/labs/schedule.html

Please note that the Lab Request forms must be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the first requested date.

Lab Orientation

IT requests that instructors who have reserved a lab for classroom instruction attend a lab orientation given by the lab manager. Lab Orientations last from 10 to 20 minutes and cover basic lab rules, special equipment, printing issues, problem reporting, and other pertinent information. To schedule an appointment for a lab orientation contact the lab manager Nancee Fox (x3095; nancee.fox@sonoma.edu.

Hardware

The 16 Windows computers in Stevenson 1040 are networked with Internet access and have web browser and email capabilities. All the computers are equipped with a 100/250 Zip drive and a DVD/CD-Rom drive. The computers are connected to a black & white laser printer, but students and/or instructors must provide their own paper. The lab also has a screen and a projector for digital display (from the instructor computer) and video projection (from an VCR)
