IF YOU DONT HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS:

:
Go to the IT (Instructional Technology) Help desk in the Schulz center (LEFT BASEMENT) and talk to the nice helpful people there. Tell them you need an email address for student account, and they will give you the necessary info to set this up. You may already be using Pine, Eudora, outlook express or some other program for your email, they will show you how to set that up for your SSU account. You then need to subscribe to our listserv as below:

IF YOU DO HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS YOU CAN SUBSCRIBE YOURSELF TO THE LISTSERV BY THE FOLLOWING PROCESS:

You have to go through a simple process to subscribe to our listserv by sending an email
message to listserv@sonoma.edu. The body of the message should
contain the single line spaced exactly as below:

SUBSCRIBE GEOL110-1

END

The end command will ignore anything embedded in your page that might confuse our computer. You need to send it from your computer with your email address embedded, or by webmail with your return address.

If you are new at email, the simplest method to use is Webmail. You just need to get on a web browser (Netscape, Explorer) and enter the URL.

webmail.sonoma.edu

or click on the words above.

and follow the instructions to sign in. It is handy to write the text of email off line, save it as a file, then copy and paste your message into the webmail window.

We will all be connected in cyberspace on a listserv. This means I can send a message about a NATURAL DISASTER, and you can post any message (please no jokes or personal messages) to be read by the entire class. Your first assignment will be to write a description of and your reaction to, any natural disaster you have witnessed, or imagined.
