About the In-class Program

The program meets for 12 Saturdays, January 13 - December 1, 2007; 8:30-4:30

This Certificate Program is designed with the working professional in mind. It is a yearlong program focused on developing the understanding necessary to enable sustainable building decision making within a corporate, institutional, non-profit, municipal, or individual setting. Graduates of this program will be able to work with the owners, project managers, architects, engineers, builders, and subcontractors for a project to facilitate Green Building decision making.

The program is comprised of six modules:

1. Overview (January)
2. Site & Water
(February and March)
3. Energy (April, May & June)
4. Materials (July, August & Sept)
5. Indoor Environmental Quality (October)
6. Case Studies
(November & December). Students can enroll and pay for individual modules and do not have to pursue the full certificate.

A certificate will be awarded to students who complete the following requirements: Attend all 12 class sessions; Complete a student project; Pass a comprehensive final exam; Complete quizzes that are based on monthly reading assignments. Students have two years in which to complete all of the program requirements

About the Online Program

The Certificate Program is now available to students online. The online class sessions are a videotape of the in class sessions. In addition, there are homework assignments in WebCT. The video and homework must be completed each month before the next month's class.

Applications for classes beginning January 2008 are open.  Online applicants may sign up for modules 1 through 4.  Modules 5 and 6 cannot be taken online unless except for continuing online students (i.e. students who took previous modules online).
