Donald Herriott, B.S. Physics, 1972

Mr. Herriott
began his career in the banking industry in California. He joined SYNTEX
pharmaceutical company in 1981 where he has had several key management
positions around the country. Roche Holdings, Switzerland acquired SYNTEX
in 1994. In 1996, Mr. Herriott moved to Florence, South Carolina to assume
his present role as president and general manager of Roche Carolina, Inc.
He has served on several boards, including the Commission on Higher Education
Task Force, which published a report entitled “Pathways to Prosperity”
and received the South Carolina State Library 2001 ten Most notable state
publication awards. He currently serves on the South Carolina Board of
Economic Advisors, the Palmetto Institute, an economic development research
organization, the South Carolina Governor’s School of Science and
Mathematics Foundation, and the South Carolina Research Authority. He
is also the chair of the 2,600 member South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.
In 2001, the South Carolina Career Guidance and Placement Association
named Mr. Herriott the Business Person of the Year.
