114 Townhomes
8 buildings with courtyards
4 bedroom/4 bathroom units
Approximately 1,500 square feet
2 Single & 2 Double Bedrooms
Community Building
The construction of SSU's newest campus housing village is on schedule and planning to open for the 2009-2010 school year. Tuscany Village will continue the best traditions of both the Sauvignon and Beaujolais Villages. Tuscany townhomes are two stories with living areas (pdf) and one double occupancy bedroom (pdf) downstairs and three bedrooms upstairs. Two of the bedrooms are double occupancy and two are single (like Sauvignon Village). Each bedroom will have a private bath. The kitchen (pdf) will have stainless steel appliances and a breakfast bars with barstools. The townhomes will be completely furnished and will have radiant floor heating, wireless and direct wire computing connections, cable television, and local phone service.
The Tuscany Village site is arranged like Sauvignon Village with the residential buildings arranged around eight courtyards with each townhouse having it's own rear patio area. The Village will have a Community Building, providing the residents with their lounge, meeting/event rooms, service desk, and mail/package area. Laundry facilities, individual mail boxes, and additional parking spaces are also included in the Village.
Tuscany Village will be available to current year campus residents, new transfer students, and SSU students living off-campus currently. Compared to their counterparts who commute to college, students living in college housing are more likely to persist and graduate from college; interact more frequently with faculty and peers in informal settings; and are significantly more satisfied with college and are more positive about the social and interpersonal environment of their campus.
