Business with Housing Services

There is an overwhelming amount of "information" about living on-campus. To help simpifly all the really important business dealings, we have broken the information into three categories: (1) pre-occupancy, (2) during occupancy and (3) post occupancy.

Pre-Occupancy

This phase deals with the period of time prior to the student moving onto campus. This is when the student applys to live on-campus, completes a Student Housing License Agreement, and receives a room assignment. There is a whole section related to our different types of students under the Living On-Campus section. If your son or daughter is a new student to SSU, they visit the Prospective Student listing. Here a student can read about the various accommodations we offer, view floor plans, and a list of Housing features. If they are a current resident on-campus then they go to the Current Resident link to read about Housing procedures, they can also view copies of past "Housing Notes", and important dates. There is also a page specific to those students who are presently enrolled at SSU providing them with details about applying to live on-campus. Clicking on the Pre-Occupancy link under Highlights will direct you to a page of helpful suggestions about taking care of pre-occupancy business.

During Occupancy

The majority of your business affairs happens while your son or daughter physically resides in the Residential Community. Some of the more important business aspects while they live on-campus are emergency preparedness, understanding the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), providing health and renter's insurance, familarity with the Student Housing License Agreement and it's financial obligations, residency limit, moving out early and at the end of the year, room changes and roommate conflicts. For more information about taking care of business while living on-campus click on "During Occupancy" under the Highlights on the right hand side.

Post Occupancy

Once a student vacates the Residential Community, we consider them to be in the post occupancy phase. Post occupancy would encompass room inpsections, refunds or money owed to the University, housing references, and eligibility for future terms. For more information about taking care of business once you leave the Residential Community, click on "Post Occupancy" under the Highlights section on the right hand side.
