Sign-Up Orientation for New Student Assistants
If you are a new Student Assistant or if it has been more than three years since you last worked at SSU, you are required to attend a sign-up orientation. New Student Assistant sign-ups are held in Human Services, located on the 2nd floor of Salazar Hall.
What you will need to bring to the orientation:
- The Student Employment Form (SEF) completed by your hiring department.
- Your completed Application for Student Assistant Employment.
- Appropriate I.D. to satisfy I-9 requirements. (Refer to the 3rd page of the Form I-9 link below for the list of acceptable documents.)
- It is required that your name and Social Security Number are reported exactly as stated on your Social Security card to the Internal Revenue Service and California Franchise Tax Board. To help expedite this verification processes please bring your original, non-laminated Social Security Card to your in-person sign-up. If you do not have your original card please advise us at the time of sign-up. For future use you may request a new card from the Social Security Administration at www.ssa.gov.
Online forms to be completed prior to orientation:
To expedite the sign-up process complete the forms below prior to attending an orientation. Where your address is required, please use your permanent mailing address.
- Form I-9 (Section 1 only)
- CSU Form SSA-1945
- Student Payroll Action Request (Job Code 1870 & 1871) or, Employee Action Request Form (Job Code 1868, 1869 & 1874) Refer to Section 1 of your SEF for the correct job code.
International Student Assistants:
International Student Assistants must be hired into Job Code 1868 and may not work over 20 hours per week. In addition to the previous list of required forms, the following additional forms will need to be completed:
- California State University Alien Information Collection form
- The Non-Citizen Supplement form
