Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I would like to apply for multiple positions on campus. May I submit one application for all?
A: No. A completed employment application is required for each desired position. Any resume submitted without a completed application will not be considered.
Q: May I e-mail my application?
A: Yes, applications may be emailed to human.services@sonoma.edu.
Q: Are a cover letter and resume required?
A: These items are not required but are recommended.
Q: I submitted samples of my work along with the employment application and would like them returned to me.
A: Materials submitted with your application will not be returned.
Q: What does "open until filled" mean?
A: If the department does not find a suitable candidate among those who applied by the first review date, applications received after that date will be considered. This explains why a position may still be posted on our web site even though the "first review" date has passed.
Q: I recently applied for a position. How long will it be before I hear from someone?
A: You will receive an email confirming that we have received your application. The screening process typically includes a three- to six-week review and selection period after the closing date. Only those candidates selected for an interview will be notified.
Q: How many applicants will be selected for an interview?
A: A limited number of qualified applicants will be selected for interviews and will be contacted directly by the hiring department.
Q: I'll be in your area, may I stop by for an interview?
A: If you are chosen for an interview, the hiring department will contact you directly. You may note your availability in the cover letter.
Q: Is there someone I can call in the hiring department for an update on the process?
A: Hiring departments prefer not to be contacted by applicants. You may call 664-3214 for an update.
Q: Will you keep my application on file for a future position?
A: We only accept applications for posted jobs, and do not keep applications "on file."
Q: Will I be notified by mail once a position has been filled?
A: Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to notify each and every applicant that a position has been filled. If a position has been taken off the jobs page on our web site, you may assume the position has been filled.
