Hutchins Admissions Information

The Hutchins School accepts students as freshmen or juniors depending on space availability, for the fall. When applying to the university, all students seeking admission to the Hutchins School should list "Hutchins School" as their major and should select the appropriate code number indicated below:

Code your Hutchins major as follows:

Freshmen: If you are applying to the Hutchins' program for the Hutchins general education program, use code number 49015.
Freshmen: If you plan to continue in the Hutchins' program to prepare for the elementary teaching credential, use code number 49012.
Juniors: If you are applying to the Hutchins' program for the general liberal studies degree, use code number 49015.
Juniors: If you are applying for the Hutchins' program in order to prepare for the elementary teaching credential, use code number 49012.

Continuing Students

Students already at Sonoma State seeking admission into the Hutchins program must file a separate Hutchins application form by

February 15 for the Fall semester
October 1 for the Spring semester. (This option is not always available.)

Application forms are available in the Hutchins School office, Rachel Carson Hall 44.

Any student who has a disability which may affect his/her academic work should register with the Disability Resource Center and explore appropriate accommodations before beginning coursework in the Hutchins School.
