Student Support Services and Effective Programs for At-Risk Youth:
Developing Systems for Student Success.

This project consists of a model of a transformative mentoring program for at-risk Latina adolescents. The foundation of the project will include a personal development curriculum addressing issues of culture, positive self-concept and identity. This mentoring model will seek to transform Latina youth by helping them to understand their specific socio-cultural situation in order to alter their perception of themselves and the world around them. Through cultural awareness and the development of a positive self-concept, this mentoring program model will seek to change the student's perception of their capabilities and move them towards personal empowerment and a new consciousness.
