Hutchins facilitated me in organizing my own study abroad plan. Working with a local travel group called Leap Now! I designed a three course semester program, immersing myself in the language, culture and environmental issues of Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru.

The interdisciplinary freedom achieved through Hutchins allowed me to learn Spanish, live with several host families or various economic statuses, work with indigenous people, build houses, and of course hike through the rainforest and Machu Picchu. The flexibility and support of my Advisor Wendy Ostroff could not have been more perfect in helping me to design the perfect program for what I wanted, and in making it a reality.

I am now planning a second foreign exchange, this time to study international non-governmental organizations and social justice in Switzerland and France."
