Domain Accounts and File Share Access
A domain account is needed to access any computers bound to our windows domain (aka Solar) and also for accessing department file shares. Domain accounts are available to staff, faculty and student assistants working on campus.
Student Assistant accounts expire at the end of every semester. If the student will continue to work the following semester, a new form must be submitted requesting their account be extended. Use the "Returning Student" checkbox at the top of the form. All previous file share access will remain and only the account expiration will change.
How do I request a domain account?
Fill out an Account Request Form and bring it to the IT Helpdesk with photo id. Signatures from both the user and supervisor are required.
When requesting file share access, please provide the full path to the folder (eg. \\ssu-5\IT\Common Files). If you are not sure of the path, check with your supervisor or department Administrative Coordinator.
Domain accounts are created within 24-48 hours. You will get a phone call from IT when your account is ready. If you are having trouble logging in or accessing your file shares, please contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance at x4-4357.
