Note: after installing the certificate, you will be required to enter a password whenever you visit a website using SSL (URLs beginning with https://). If this causes an inconvenience for you, you may wish to use Safari, Firefox, Netscape Navigator, Mozilla or some other browser for web access.
Internet Explorer is not supported in Macintosh OS 10.4 (Tiger) and therefore the SSU Security Certificate is incompatible with Internet Explorer on Macintosh OS 10.4 (Tiger).
If you are using Internet Explorer/Outlook Express:

Explanation
As part of an ongoing commitment to security and reliability in our services, Information Technology is deploying its own PKI Certificate Authority. You will need to install this certificate if you use any of the SSL services provided on campus. These include:
- mail.sonoma.edu - IMAP or POP email over SSL
- smtps.sonoma.edu - SMTP over SSL
*If you do not have our Root Certificate installed you may experience warnings when using SSL/TLS (Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security) enabled services on campus. In order to use these services in the easiest and most secure fashion, we recommend that you install our root certificate.
