Helpdesk Resource Center
When you contact the Helpdesk please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Your Name
- Your campus i.d. (when requesting an account or changing a password)
- Your phone number
- Your GeoTeam member (if you have one)
- Detailed information about your problem
- If the problem is computer related, we will need the property number on your CPU or monitor, the operating system version, and a detailed description of the problem.
- If the problem is phone or network related, the phone or network jack number is helpful.
- Detailed information about your request
- If you need computers or phones moved, we will need the names of all staff/faculty involved, the current locations of all phones/computers, and the intended new locations for all phones/computers.
- If you are requesting new phones or network jacks, we will need the name of the intended user, the exact locations, and the number on the nearest phone/network jack.
- If you are requesting a software installation, you will need to provide your CPU's property number. In some cases (when IT does not own a bulk/site license or the software is not shareware), you may need to provide proof that you own the software to be installed.
- If you are requesting assistance with a web page or web project, you may need to provide your web server username and password, and the URL of the web page(s).
