How to Access Your Voicemail Account

1. Accessing your mailbox

  • Dial 42999 or get dialtone and press message or dial 707-664-2999.
  • Dial your mailbox number and #.
  • Dial your password and #.
  • (The first time you access your mailbox you must change your password. You will be automatically given instructions. Your mailbox number is your 5 digit extension and your initial password is 778 + your mailbox number).

2. Password -
(once you have accessed your mailbox, press 84)

  • Follow the automatic instructions.
  • Passwords must be 4 digits minimum and must not be repetitive, IE 1234.
  • Once you have changed your password, you must use this new password to access your mailbox until you change your password again.
  • You will be required to change your password every 365 days.

3. Personal Verification -
(once you have accessed your mailbox, press 89)

  • Follow the automatic instructions.
  • This recording is typically your spoken name and extension number. This recording most commonly identifies you to callers who wish to locate you by name.

4. Greetings -
(once you have accessed your mailbox, press 821 for your external greeting)

  • Follow the automatic instructions.
  • 5 records, # stops recording, 2 plays the current greeting, 4 returns you to the main menu.
  • When you desire to re-record your greeting, delete (76) it first.

You may also record a temporary absence greeting (once you have accessed your mailbox, press 823).

  • Follow the automatic instructions, they are the same as your external greeting
  • This greeting reminds callers that it's special if they try to bypass your greeting and go directly to the beep.

5. Express Messaging -
Allows you to leave a message for someone without ringing their phone.

  • Dial 65999, then:
  • Dial the 5 digit extension and # of the person you wish to leave a message for.
    OR
  • Dial 11 and begin spelling the person's first name or as much as you know. Follow the prompts.

You may transfer someone you are speaking with directly to their desired mailbox:

  • While talking with the party, press transfer, dial 42999, dial the 5 digit extension and # of the person they wish to leave a message for. Press transfer. (Pressing transfer immediately upon entering the # ensures the caller hears that individuals greeting)

6. Other Call Pilot Features

  • Pressing 76 deletes the message you are listening to.
  • Pressing 3 skips you ahead 5 seconds in the message you are listening to.
  • Pressing 1 skips you backwards 5 seconds in the message you are listening to.
  • Pressing 23 speeds up playback of the message you are listening to; there are 5 playback speeds
  • Pressing 21 slows down the playback of the message you are listening to; there are 5 playback speeds
  • Pressing 6 skips you to the next message.
  • Pressing 4 skips you to the previous message.
  • Pressing # pauses Call Pilot.
  • Pressing 2 resumes Call Pilot if you have pressed #.
  • Pressing 86 and a message number followed by the # takes you to the beginning of the message you keyed in.
  • Pressing 71 replies to the sender of the message you are listening to.
  • Pressing 73 forwards the message you are listening to. Dial the mailbox numbers and the # for all the recipients (repeat for each recipient) of the forwarded message. Dial 5 to record an introduction. Dial # to stop recording. Dial 79 to send the message.
  • Pressing 75 begins a new message. Dial the mailbox numbers and the # for all the recipients (repeat for each recipient). Dial 5 to record. Dial # to stop recording. Dial 79 to send the message.
  • Dial 11 whenever you are asked for a mailbox number and you will be prompted to spell the party's name *NOTE: spelling is by first, not last name. (Use when you do not know the party's telephone extension).
  • Pressing 9 calls the sender (Sonoma State Campus only) of the message you are listening to.
  • If you have reached someone's voicemail and desire to call another number within Sonoma State Campus, you may dial 0 and the party's extension and the # to ring their telephone.

To make a call you can use the following directions:

Extension to extension (on campus):
last 5 digits, ex. 4-4357

Local (off campus):
9 + 7 digit number

Long Distance:
9 + 1 + 10 digit number

Long Distance with Athorization Code:
* + 6 + Auth. Code + 9 +
10 digit number

Pac Bell Operator:
6 + 1 + 0 wait for answer

AT&T Operator:
6 + 1 + 0 + 0 wait for answer
