The latest mutation of the "ILOVEYOU" virus called NewLove is not widespread and can be destroyed by current versions of anti-virus software. All e-mail coming into SSU is being scanned for .vbs extensions at the system level before the message gets to you. If a message with a .vbs extension is discovered it is deleted and you will receive a message from the system administrator telling you that "this message has been deleted due to possible virus infection." with details on who to contact if you have questions.
This worm spreads by e-mail, much like LoveLetter. However, the subject field of the e-mail and the name of the attached file are random. NewLove operates under Windows operating system and needs Microsoft Outlook to spread itself further via e-mail. Macintosh systems can not be infected by this virus.
