This will affect PC's using Outlook Express.
Severity Update:
We have had a few reports of this virus infecting system files. The current virus definitions will detect the virus and quarantine the infected file, however, deleting the quarantined file will cause system and/or application problems.
If your virus software detects an infected file and quarantines it, DO NOT DELETE THE QUARANTINED FILE. Please contact the IT Service Center immediately (Ext. 44357) for further instructions.
Once again, this virus appears to only attack PCs using Outlook Express, and does not affect Macs or other email clients.
Virus attacks can be prevented, in most cases, by taking the following precautions:
1.) Run current anti-virus software on both your office and home computer systems at all times.
2.) Keep your virus definition files up-to-date.
3.) Enable the email protection option.
4.) Verify your system is being scanned on a regular basis.
5.) Do not open email attachments from an unknown sender.
