McAfee Installation Instructions for Macintosh (Non-Intel)

The Sonoma State IT Department offers virus protection for Macintosh OS 10.2 and later. There are separate installers for PowerPC and Intel processor Macs. To determine the OS and processor type of your Mac, click on the Apple menu in the upper left hand corner of the screen and select "About This Computer."

PowerPC Processor Macs

  1. Download the disk image for Non-Intel Macs containing the installer package.
  2. After the disk image has downloaded, double click it to mount it. If you are using Safari, the image will automatically mount.
  3. Double click the installer package called "VirexPowerPC.mpkg" from within the mounted disk image.
  4. Follow the prompts then click "Restart" when asked to.
