Configuring Windows Automatic Update on Windows XP

  1. Click on your Start menu
  2. Click on Control Panel

  3. Double-Click on the System icon
    The Systems Properties window should appear


  4. Click on the Automatic Updates tab

  5. Check the box towards the top of the automatic updates window. This will enable Windows Automatic Updates.
  6. Select the second option and windows will automatically download updates and notify you when they are ready to be installed.
  7. Click OK to finish.

When new updates are ready to be installed, you will see a flashing icon in the lower right hand side of your screen.
