Q. Can I make the search results page look like the rest of my site?
A. Yes. The Google Mini Search Appliance allows multiple "front ends." Front ends control the appearance of the Search Form and Search Results pages, allow you to add custom Key Matches, Synonyms, Filters and remove URLs from your search.
- Key Matches
- KeyMatch allows you to specify exact results that will be returned for a particular search term or terms.
- Synonyms
- Use synonyms to define words or phrases that should be treated as equivalent when users search for them.
- Filters
- Filter searches by language, file type and/or meta tags.
- Remove URLs
- Remove URLs matching the specified patterns from all search results.
Managing and customizing a front end is not something to be taken on lightly. Depending on what you want to do, you may need to edit XSLT files. Make an appointment with the IT Web Office Director to discuss your search needs and options.
