Sports Information Coordinator

Administrative Support Assistant - Level II

Position

Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director/Sports Information Director, the Sports Information Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the promotion of all 13 intercollegiate athletic programs sponsored by the university.  Responsibilities will include generating game statistics using computer-based software programs (The Automated Scorebook, Stat Crew, etc.); assuming duties as official scorer, PA announcer, scoreboard operator, etc. as needed; assisting in coordinating media needs before, during, and after events; assisting with production of media guides, including research, writing, editing, layout and design; production of game-day programs; regular writing of press releases, including post-game stories, student-athlete signings, awards, new hires, rankings, etc.; assisting with maintenance and updating of department website; interaction with coaches, student-athletes, opposing sports information directors, media, administrators; reporting of weekly and yearly statistics to CCAA and NCAA; and nomination of student-athletes for Player of the Week and post-season awards.  Other duties, special projects, and analyses will be performed as assigned.  Primary work location will take place in an office setting; however the position may require work outdoors, and some travel may be required.  Hours may vary based on the schedule of the sports programs.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range is $2,505 to $3,579 a month.  Starting salary placement will not exceed the beginning of the range. This is a full time, temporary, non-exempt position for one year, and reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations.  A comprehensive benefits summary (pdf) for this position is available by request from SSU Employee Services.
