Assistant Coach - Women's Golf

Coaching Assistant - Part Time, Temporary Position, 10 Month

Position

Reporting to the head coach, the Assistant Coach for Women’s Golf has responsibility for assisting the head coach in developing, implementing, and managing integrated programs related to the Women’s Golf team.  This includes activities related to coaching, recruiting, and cultivating student athletes; fund raising and development; compliance with Title IX regulations, NCAA and CCAA requirements; and maintaining positive community relations.  In addition, the assistant coach is expected to support program objectives and assist the head coach in providing a positive experience for the student-athlete.  Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in developing and implementing individual pre-season conditioning (summer) programs for student-athletes including regular workouts, weight training, and student athlete conditioning; attending all team matches, qualifying sessions and practices; assisting the head coach in developing and implementing documented individual student-athlete development programs for returning student-athletes to develop student-athlete skill and conditioning; and  assisting the head coach in assuring that student-athletes have a working knowledge of  NCAA, CCAA and departmental rules and regulations.  Attends high school, junior college and club tournaments for recruiting and scouting both during the season and also in post-season in accordance to NCAA, CCAA and departmental rules and regulations; assists the head coach in developing a written recruitment strategy for recruiting prospective student-athletes; evaluates prospective student-athletes (junior college and high school) by attending regional and state championship tournaments including junior college tournaments; high school championships in state, club tournaments and recruiting combines in western United States, analyzes video of prospective student-athletes; and travels in state to make formal presentations to prospective student-athletes and their parents or guardians.  Incumbent will assist the head coach in generating revenue for Women’s Golf and the department by supporting all departmental fund raising activities; by personally participating in at least three to four key fundraising activities; and assists the head coach in maintaining positive community relations by providing clinics and performing community services with student-athlete involvement.  The incumbent serves serve as a key resource and responds to all matters related to the Women’s Golf team.  This position entails administrative duties, travel commitments, and weekday and weekend schedules. 

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year university, excellent working knowledge of intercollegiate golf, and sufficient experience to perform the duties of the position are required.  Excellent organization and communication skills are required;  incumbent must be able to effectively handle multiple tasks and competing demands, work cooperatively in group situations, and work actively to resolve conflicts.  Demonstrated skills at promoting positive personal relations with student-athletes, faculty and staff, and demonstrated commitment to diversity are required.  Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence and a willingness to respect the mission and values of the university.

Salary and Benefits
