Assistant Coach - Women's Softball
Coaching Assistant - Part-time, Temporary Position, 10 Month

Position
Reporting to the head coach, the Assistant Coach for Women’s Softball has responsibility for assisting the head coach in developing, implementing, and managing integrated programs related to the Women’s Softball team. This includes activities related to coaching, recruiting, and cultivating student athletes; fund raising and development; compliance with Title IX regulations, NCAA and CCAA requirements; and maintaining positive community relations. In addition, the assistant coach is expected to support program objectives and assist the head coach in providing a positive experience for the student-athlete. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in developing and implementing individual pre-season conditioning (summer) programs for student-athletes including regular workouts, weight training, and student athlete conditioning; attending all team games and practices, assisting the head coach in developing and implementing documented individual student-athlete development programs for returning student-athletes to develop student-athlete skill and conditioning; and assisting the head coach in assuring that student-athletes have a working knowledge of NCAA, CCAA and departmental rules and regulations. Supports the head coach in developing a written recruitment strategy for recruiting prospective student athletes, and evaluates prospective student athletes by attending regional and state championship games including junior college games, high school championships and amateur tournaments; analyzes video of prospective student-athletes; and travels in state to make formal presentations to prospective student-athletes and their parents or guardians. Incumbent will assist the head coach in generating revenue for Women’s Softball and the department by supporting all departmental fund raising activities; by personally participating in at least three to four key fundraising activities; and assists the head coach in maintaining positive community relations by providing clinics and performing community services with student-athlete involvement. The incumbent serves serve as a key resource and responds to all matters related to the Women’s Softball team. This position entails administrative duties, travel commitments, and weekday and weekend schedules.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year university, and a minimum of two years experience as a Head Coach and/or Assistant Coach at the high school or club level, with two or four year intercollegiate level preferred; knowledge of NCAA and CCAA rules and regulations, demonstrated skills at promoting positive personal relations with student-athletes, faculty and staff, motivating student-athletes towards athletic and academic success, and demonstrated commitment to diversity; demonstrated fund raising experience preferred, good organizational and communication skills, good computer skills, and a sound technical knowledge of the game of softball. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence and a willingness to respect the mission and values of the university.

Salary and Benefits
