Equipment Needs
  • A CD or tape player and music are all that is required for this activity.
Facility/Playground Needs The blacktop or field will work best, but if it is a rainy day this activity can be modified to work in the classroom with the desks pushed to the side.
Lesson Objective (Psychomotor and/or Cognitive): To have students work together and follow their partner. To have students practice different exercises and locomotor movements.

Description:

One student will be the leader and perform an exercise or locomotor movement. His or her partner copies the leader’s movements, exercise, or locomotor skill. The teacher should signal the change of leaders by using a whistle or by stopping the music.
Alternatives/Modifications
  • There can be more than one student who copies the leader.
  • The teacher selects the type of exercise or movement the leader should do.
