Facility/Playground Needs Blacktop
Lesson Objective (Psychomotor and/or Cognitive):

Explore different rhythms through throwing and catching

Teaching Hints:

If students have difficulty throwing and catching to rhythm, the teacher may need to stop and have them clap, stomp, or nod in order to have them "feel" the beat.

Description:

Review the cues of throwing and catching before the activity. Throwing (swing arm back, step w/the opposite foot, throw and follow through). Catching (look for the ball, hands out, bring ball in). Students pair up with a partner that has the same...(eye color, color shirt, etc.) as them. One partner grab an object to throw. Have partners find a good space in the general space. On the teacher's cue, the students throw to their partner keeping the beat of the music. Encourage the students to throw and catch at different levels.
