Description:

This is a line dance featuring males and females in two different lines that merge into a mixed line and then return back to their origin. the Syrtos, or 'dragging' dance, usually in 2/4 time, is the oldest dance form and is likely to have been danced around altars in all the sacred rituals of the ancient Greeks

Beat1-2: Face Center, side R, cross L behind, Side R

Beat 3-4: Face R, forward L R L

Beat 5-6: Face Center moving R, step R, L, --then R in place

Beat 7-8: L back, R close, L forward

Line dance, arms in W-Position, meter 2/4 count---1 2& slow---quick-quick

On the last beat of measure 4, you may also cross the left slightly over the right. Also, during the dance, the leader of the line may be doing various improvised steps. Just keep doing the basic step. However, some leaders will signal a turn by circling their hand in the air. If they do that, then they are expecting the whole line to turn.
