Students need to be familiar with directional cues and terms used in folk and line dancing. Look for students moving with the beat of the music. Some will catch on to the pattern very quickly, use them as examples for others to watch. Practice it without the music first, segment by segment. |

First 8 Counts: Grapevine step to the right (1-4) Grapevine step to the left (5-8) Next 8 Counts: Right foot leads a step-close-step-tap to the right (1-4) Then left foot leads a step close step-tap to the left (5-8) Next 8 Counts: With right foot start walking in a circle to the right for 7 counts. On the eighth count, feet are together to start dance over again with left foot leading. Next 24 Counts: Repeat the grapevine (1-8), step-close-step-tap (1-8), and the walk (1-8)as before, but lead with the left instead of the right. (When walk is completed, you should be back at the starting position) Next 8 Counts: With right foot do heel, toe (cross in front of other leg), heel, stomp. (1-4) Same with the left. (5-8) Next 8 Counts: Repeat right heel-toe, then left heel-toe. (1-8) Last 8 Counts: Then 4 jumps with a quarter turn to the right with each one. (2 counts each) After fourth jump, dance starts over again from the beginning. |
