| Lesson Objective (Psychomotor and/or Cognitive): |
Improve fitness. Associate fitness activity with fun. |
||||
| Teaching Hints: |
Students will be moving in all directions so make sure there is adequate space and that students are aware of their surroundings. Encourage students to cross the room to get to another plate rather than going to the plate closest to them. Change the locomotor movements often so that students don't get bored. |
||||
| Description: | |||||
|
Plates are placed face down on the floor so students cannot read the word "Stop" or "Go". The teacher, or students, choose a locomotor movement that everyone must use to get from plate to plate. Once a student gets to a plate they must turn it over and do what it says. If it is a "Go" place they move to another plate using the identified locomotor movement. If they hit a "Stop" plate they must stop their locomotor movement and compete the nonlocomotor activity identified. The plate will also indicate the number of repetitions to be completed. Student will then flip the plate back over and use the chosen locomotor movement to get to another plate. |

| Alternatives/Modifications |
Students could be asked to move around or through obstacles on the activity floor while moving to plates, i.e. jumping into hula hoops or around cones before moving to a plate. |
