| Facility/Playground Needs | This activity can be done anywhere, inside or outside. | ||||
| Lesson Objective (Psychomotor and/or Cognitive): |
Get students moving in a space with the goal of getting to a cone without colliding into others. Improve cardiovascular fitness. Associate fitness activity with fun. |
| Teaching Hints: |
Be aware of students being too aggressive with the cones, they don't need to throw them over. Make sure the student know that this is not a competition, there are no winners, and it's just for fun. |
| Description: | |||||
The class will be split up into two equal groups. Cones will be randomly set up in the activity area. Half of the cones will be knocked down and the other half standing up. One half of the class will try to knock down all the cones using their hands while the other class tries to stand up all the cones using their hands. All the students are running around trying to pick up and knock down the cones. |
| Alternatives/Modifications |
To add variation, students can be asked to knock down cones with different body parts (elbows, knees, feet etc.). After the students play and get the idea of the game it can be made more difficult. Using different colored cones, coordinate movements with a color. For example, students can only knock a blue cone down with your hands, a yellow cone with your knee, and a red cone with your elbow. This will make students think. |
