PPEP-PALS Lesson Sharing
Teacher & School: Debbie Prevost, Fortuna Middle
Activity Grade Level
Circle Walk 4 - 8
Equipment Needs
  • None
Facility/Playground Needs Flat, clean area such as a gym.
Lesson Objective (Psychomotor and/or Cognitive):

Build upper body strength

Teaching Hints:

Be sure participants keep their backsides down - the shoulders should be the highest point.

Keep an eye on form.

When form breaks down, dictate a rest or change in activity.

For novice exercisers, simply holding the push-up position without moving is challenge enough.

Description:

  1. Participants get into push-up position.
  2. Keeping their feet in one spot, they walk their hands around in a circle, pivoting around their feet.
  3. The objective is to see how many times they can make it around in 1 minute.
  4. Because individuals do not have to react to things going on around them, this is a suitable activity for individuals who are visually impaired.
  5. Have each individual complete the task twice, once in each direction.

Alternatives/Modifications

Time how long it takes participants to complete two circles.
