Lesson Objective (Psychomotor and/or Cognitive):

General coordination, agility, locomotor skills

Teaching Hints:

Have cones scattered around the playing area - half up, half on their side

Cones can be different sizes

Description:
  1. The object of the game is to try to keep the cones either up or down (depending on whether you're a "Squatter" or a "Stander."
  2. Have students pair up, using back to back, toe to toe, or any other quick pair up.
  3. One student from each pair squats down. They are the "Squatters" and go to one side of the area. The others are the "Standers" and go to the opposite side of the area.
  4. On the Start cue, walk fast and stand up the cones if you're a "Stander" or tip over the cones if you're a "Squatter."
  5. You may only walk, no running.
  6. You may use only your hands to touch the cones.
  7. You may not guard a cone.
  8. On the stop cue, everyone freeze and walk back to your area without touching a cone.
  9. Count how many cones are standing/squatting.
  10. Play again, using a different locomotor skill (skipping).
Alternatives/Modifications

Besides changing locomotor skills, change which body part they can use to touch the cone (elbow, knee, feet)
