Lesson Objective (Psychomotor and/or Cognitive):

The purpose of this game is to develop the skills of passing and receiving, as in basketball, while playing cooperatively with others. Students listen and follow the passes called by the teacher.

Teaching Hints: Students need to have been given time to practice and develop different types of passes used in basketball in order to participate in this game.
Description:

Arrange class into groups of 4-5 students in two file lines facing each other about ten feet apart. First person in one line passes to first person in other line using a specified pass; chest pass, overhead pass, underhand pass or bounce pass. After passing, the passer runs (to the right) to the end of the line they pass to and waits for next turn. The teacher is responsible for specifying the type of pass.

Challenge: How quickly can a group complete one circle of the drill? Can a group complete one cycle without missing a pass?

Alternatives/Modifications

Foam or rubber balls for this lesson will provide a greater degree of safety.
