| Introduction |
|---|
|
The project seeks to establish the Petaluma Physical Education Program: Promoting Active Lifestyles in Students (PPEP PALS), a collaboration among the Petaluma City Schools (PCS), neighboring elementary schools, community agencies, and Sonoma State University. |
| Goals |
|
The project's goal will be to improve physical education instruction in 15 elementary schools in the area, some of which have a high percentage of Latino students. PPEP PALS will achieve this goal by developing a district-wide physical education curriculum, providing intensive program development to 75 teachers, and utilizing local teachers, community health professionals, and university faculty in providing instructional expertise to participants. This process will provide ongoing support to ensure that physical education programs are consistent with the California State Standards. |
