Students
may select Reading and Language Education courses as a component
of their graduate program. It is helpful, but
not required, to complete a basic course in teaching reading
prior to enrolling in graduate Reading and Language coursework. |

Cognate Path for any
Masters Degree in Education |

In consultation with
a faculty advisor, students from any Education M.A. degree program
may select three courses in Reading and Language as their Cognate
path.

Master's degree candidates
who concurrently pursue a Reading and Language Arts Specialist
Credential often select a Cognate path in Reading and Language.

Area of Emphasis |
- In consultation with
a faculty advisor, students in the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning
M.A. concentration may design an Area of Emphasis comprised of
four courses in Reading and Language.

Electives |
- In consultation with
a faculty advisor, students from any Education M.A. degree may
select courses in Reading and Language as electives.
|
|
Grad CLAD |
- In consultation with
the Grad CLAD advisor, credentialed teachers who wish to pursue
state certification in Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development
(CLAD) at SSU may enroll in three of the four state-approved CLAD
courses in Reading and Language.
