Symphonic Wind Ensemble Plays With Color


The Sonoma State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs its final concert program of the year on Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Warren Auditorium. Dr. Andy Collinsworth will conduct the 60-member ensemble in a program entitled Colors of the Winds.

Joining the university Symphonic Wind Ensemble will be special guests, the Los Medanos College Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Knight.

The SSU Wind Ensemble's program includes Themes from Green Bushes by Percy Grainger; Color, based on Bob Margolis’s adaptations of old English folk tunes; Roger Cichy’s Colours; the elegaic tribute Orange Was Her Color, by SSU Music Department Chair, Brian S. Wilson; Frank Ticheli’s masterpiece, Blue Shades, and Harry Alford’s delightful march, The Purple Carnival.

Warren Auditorium is located on the second floor of Ives Hall in the southeastern area of campus. Entering campus from East Cotati Avenue, turn right at the stop sign, then left into Parking Lot E. Parking is free on weekends beginning at 5 p.m. Friday.
