The Universe is Sound: Indian Vocal Music

Friday, November 9 at 7:30PM in Weill Hall

Laxmi Ganesh Tewari, professor of ethnomusicology at Sonoma State University, will present his annual Vocal Recital at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 in Weill Hall.

Considered a leading ethnomusicologist with exemplary body of work on Indian, Buddhist, Arabian and Gamelan music, Dr. Tewari will sing classical vocal music from his native Northern India accompanied by an ensemble of tabla, tambura and harmonium players.

Tewari recently presented his field research on ‘Indians living in Trinidad and Tobago’ at the International Council for

Traditional Music Symposium held in Albania.
