I teach studio trombone and low brass.
My Bio
Besides Sonoma State University, Tony Collins teaches trombone at San Francisco State University and is a coach at the Humboldt University Brass Chamber Music Workshop each July.
He is in demand as one of the top freelance artists in the San Francisco Bay Area. He frequently performs with many of the professional symphony orchestras in the area including The San Francisco Opera, Symphony Silicon Valley, The Western Opera Theater, The Oakland East Bay Symphony, The Marin Symphony, The Fresno Philharmonic, The Monterey Symphony, The Napa Valley Symphony, The California Symphony, and Opera San Jose. He has also performed with the San Francisco Symphony. He holds the position of second trombone with the Modesto Symphony and during the summer months Mr. Collins is the principal trombonist of the Sunriver Music Festival in Sunriver, Oregon.
Having grown up in Atlanta, GA and gone to college in New York at the Manhattan School of Music, he has performed with many of the country's top arts organizations including the Metropolitan Opera, The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (with whom he has recorded two Grammy-winning discs) and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
Among the jazz and pop artists that Tony has performed with are The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Moody Blues, Yes, Lou Rawls, Tony Bennet, Dianne Schurr, Franky Valley, Vicky Carr, Johnny Mathis, Chris Botti and Ray Charles.
Tony actively performs as a founding member of the Silicon Valley Brass.
Tony currently lives in Kenwood, CA with his family. In addition to his busy freelance performing schedule he is active as a teacher and clinician as well as performing as a soloist.
