What I Do at SSU

I teach studio horn and direct the SSU Brass Ensemble. I write publicity for the Department of Music and serve as program annotator for the Green Music Center.

My Bio

Ruth Wilson has taught horn privately and at Sonoma State University since 2003. She holds a Master of Arts in Music from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. Wilson is a member of the Sonoma County Philharmonic and performs locally with several chamber ensembles and orchestras. She has performed as soloist with the SSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Baroque Sinfonia Orchestra. She has worked in the arts marketing and news fields since 1986 and was formerly librarian and special sections editor at the Oneonta Daily Star. Since the opening of Weill and Schroeder halls, she has written program notes for the MasterCard and Sundays at Schroeder performance series. Ruth and her husband Brian are parents of one son, Jerry, who studies studio art and glass making at New York University.
