Kathy Charmaz, professor of sociology, taught three professional development courses during the winter break that focused on conducting research interviews, grounded theory methods, and writing for scholarly publications. The classes were offered at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Research Talk in Raleigh, NC.
Class participants were doctoral and postdoctoral students and research scholars from nursing, public health, psychology, sociology, medicine, kinesiology, and forestry.
In addition to teaching sociology courses at SSU, Charmaz is director of the Faculty Writing Program and has written, co-authored or co-edited eight books.
