Academic Affairs, the Center for Teaching and Professional Development, and the Center for Community Engagement are sponsoring six faculty to attend the 14th annual CSU Symposium on University Teaching, held April 16, 2011 at CSU Channel Islands.
The Center for Community Engagement will sponsor two faculty submitting proposals related to service learning or community engagement. Academic Affairs will sponsor four faculty submitting to any presentation track.
This is a great opportunity to share or discover best practices related to teaching and learning. Event information, including online session proposal submission, may be found at http://facultydevelopment.csuci.edu/symphony.htm.
To receive sponsorship, please submit to present at the conference. There are nine presentation tracks with formats as 30-minute oral or poster sessions. Presentations are being accepted through March 13.
Sponsorship preference will go to those accepted to present. However, the university will send six faculty, even if less than six are accepted to present.
Notification regarding sponsorship status will be given by March 20. This gives chosen faculty four weeks to make necessary arrangements. Sponsorship will include airfare, one-night hotel ($84 govt. rate) and standard travel expenses. Organizers suggest, "For now, please block the date and hope for the best!"
To request sponsorship:
1. Submit an online presentation proposal by March 13.
