Praetzellis Receives Archaeology Award

praetzellis_small.jpgDr. Adrian Praetzellis, professor of anthropology, is the winner of the 2011 Mark Raymond Harrington Award in Conservation Archaeology.

The Society for California Archaeology awarded the honor to Dr. Praetzellis for his efforts toward the public appreciation of archaeology, as well as his efforts with the State Historical Resources Commission to develop standards and guidelines for the conduct of archaeology in California.


Dr. Praetzellis, who is also director of the Anthropological Studies Center at SSU, specializes in the urban archaeology, cultural resources management, and interpretive archaeology. He received his Ph.D. in Anthropology from UC Berkeley in 1991.
