Pokorny received her B.A. in Theatre Arts with a duel major in Acting and Directing from Cal State Long Beach. During that time, she also trained as a stage manager and found that she had a knack for it. She loved being part of the experience, especially working with the artists.
Following college, Pokorny moved to San Francisco and began a professional career as a stage manager. She has worked in theaters large and small, including positions as resident stage manager at the Magic Theater and the Marin Theater Company, and seven years of stage management at the American Conservatory Theatre.
In 1999, Pokorny moved to Sonoma County with her family. In 2001, she went to work for Pixar Animation Studios and managed four feature films - The Incredibles, Cars, Wal-e and Toy Story 3. She even had a voice role in The Incredibles.
For the last two years Juliet has been the development and outreach director at Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma.
"When you see her, please take a moment to introduce yourself and help her feel at home," says Paul Draper, professor and chair of the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance. "Welcome, Juliet!"
Pokorny's predecessor, Kamen Nikolov, has taken the position of Associate Director of Production Support for Administration and Finance, with primary duties assigned to the Green Music Center and the Music Department.
"We wish him the very best in his new position," says Draper. "His good humor, deep dedication and tireless commitment to the department's mission, and the success of its students, staff and faculty. He will be missed. Good Luck, Kamen!"
