Sherril Jaffe Reads From Her New Book, "Expiration Date"

expirationdate.jpegSherril Jaffe, author and professor of creative writing at SSU, will read from her new novel Expiration Date on Tuesday, May 3 at 6 p.m. in Schulz 3001. A resident of San Francisco, Jaffe is the winner of a 2001 PEN award and a 2010 MacDowell Fellowship. Expiration Date is her ninth published work.

The evening is sponsored by Writers at Sonoma, which is funded by Sonoma State University's Instructionally Related Activities and the Nadenia Newkirk Fund for Writers.

Publisher's Weekly writes, "Jaffe's quirky exploration of motherly love opens with protagonist Flora Rose's dream: nine months pregnant, she sits in the "prisoner's box" of a heavenly court presided over by dead relatives. Their sentence: that she will die, 25 years from now. Flash forward 24 years, and Flora is worried."
