Seawolves Set Record In $100,000 Scion Challenge

scion11.jpegThe Sonoma State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics set a new record of 11,767 tickets sold for their Ninth Annual Car Raffle, featuring the exciting, new 2011 Scion tC. The previous record was 6,500 tickets. Due to the amazing efforts of SSU student-athletes, coaches, staff and community supporters, the Seawolves collected $117,670 to support student-athletes at SSU and blasted past their $100,000 goal.

he winner of the Ninth Annual Sonoma State University Athletics Car Raffle is Beverly Welsh of Clovis, CA. The winning ticket (#8678) for the 2011 Scion tC from Hansel Toyota was picked out of a total pool of 11,767 tickets at the Seawolves' annual sports awards night, "The Wolfies.". The SSU Baseball team sold the winning ticket this year.

Over the past nine years, $542,000 has been raised from the annual Car Raffle, all with vehicles supplied by the Hansel Auto Group located in Sonoma County.

Besides Hansel Toyota and the Hansel Auto Group, other sponsors included Toyota Motor Corporation.
