Atlantic Brass Quintet Returns to Campus

abq.jpegThe Boston-based Atlantic Brass Quintet (ABQ) is in residence at the Green Music Center from June 13-18, 2011 for an intensive chamber music seminar involving 30 brass students and professionals. The workshop marks ABQ's fifth year on the west coast.

The daily schedule of master classes, open rehearsals, faculty "plug-ins," and recitals is open to the public, culminating with two free performances by ABQ and seminar participants.

ABQ's concert program will include J.S. Bach's Preludes and Fugues from "Well-Tempered Clavier," Thom Ritter George's "Brass Quintet," Alberto Ginastera's "Danzas Argentinas" and brass music from around the world.

The quintet, now in its twenty-fifth year, performed to accolades on May 27 at the 2011 International Trumpet Guild Conference in Minneapolis. Reviewer Gary Mortenson writes, "What a great group, programme, and venue: a concert to remember and treasure."
