Rising STARs Learning Expo Features the Himalayas

atsimage.jpegOn Thurs., July 28 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Academic Talent Search (ATS) students will host a learning exhibit at the University Lakes. The Rising STARs Expo gives 160 middle school students an opportunity to share what they've learned after three weeks of instruction in language arts, math and social studies. Their learning theme this year, the Himalayas, involves the study of cultures in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar.

ATS is a federal program (TRIO) hosted at SSU to serve more than 900 6th-12th grade students in Sonoma County. The program was recently awarded another five-year grant to serve more than 1000 students per year.

The July 28 event is open to the SSU community and Rising STARs families - come and be dazzled by the creativity and learning power of the Rising STARs! Questions may be directed to Cassie Olivares at (707) 664-2114.
